A relatively flat area surrounds this house with a clear brook running alongside.  The materials chosen for terracing / pergola / parterre / courtyard areas do not conflict with the white house but enhance the whole space.

By raising or lowering discrete spaces by one step, interest is maintained in each space that may be given over to different functions, such as the raised bed area.  The low hedging and choice of topiary shapes contrasting the semi-mature deciduous trees give depth to the view.  The brook of course is a key part of the design and the weathered oak planter walls as well as the grain on the ‘Millboard’ decking complement its own natural features.
